Job Description:
Purpose of Position:
The Ultimate Reentry Opportunity Initiative is an organization that is working to eliminate systemic barriers to reentry and over incarceration in Tompkins County. Systemic change does not happen quickly, it’s a methodical process that requires engaging with local government, non-profit agencies and the private sector. The Community Engagement Program Assistant will work with the URO Director and Staff, Volunteers and interns to engage these stakeholders. We will work collectively to devise strategies to increase stakeholder buy-in as well as to increase the organizations capacity by assisting with administrative activities as well as to organize student volunteers from Cornell University, Ithaca College, Tompkins County Community College.

Responsibilities include:
• Conducting research by collecting information from journal articles and books
regarding reentry policy best practices
• Creating documents such as power-point presentations, brochures and flyers
• Transcribing meeting notes and emailing community stakeholders notes
• Support the organizing and planning of events such as the Beyond the Box
Reentry Fair and Bars of Injustice fundraiser
• Other administrative duties such as assisting with facilitating & planning
meetings, taking minutes, preparing documents for meetings, etc.
• Provide support in developing an online presence via twitter, IG and Facebook for the organization
• Help organize and participate in Einhorn Community Engagement Class interns
• Support the development of the URO Podcast and a monthly newsletter for
stakeholders
• Meet with URO Director once a week via a phone or in person to address work
progress
• Speaking at public meetings such as the Common Council and County Legislature regarding research and recommendations of research

Work Schedule:
Work will be remote and onsite if permissible.
Weekly hours can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
